What is your favorite cruise activity? For those who have never before set foot on board a cruise ship, activities often refer to swimming in the ship’s pool, lounging on deck, and going onshore to visit the different ports of call. While all of these activities onboard a cruise ship do occur and most certainly are enjoyed by the majority of passengers, there are other things that many passengers find almost as enjoyable – sometimes even more so. Naturally, any cruise activity depends on the kind of cruise you have booked in the first place. Carnival cruise lines activities on their beautiful vessels that are so large that they remind of floating cities are vastly different from the kinds of activities on a Tiger Cruise, such as it happened to commemorate the last trip of the USS Fletcher DD-992 in 2004.
By all accounts, a cruise activity has two objectives. Once is to pass the time between ports of call and the other is to bring passengers closer together and allow them to build friendships. To this end, a popular Carnival cruise lines activity will be a game that is easy to follow, fun to play, and does not require an elaborate setup. For the smaller cruises, such as the dinner cruise, the cruise activity is mostly dancing. Other small vessels that will be at sea longer than three hours may offer board games as a cruise activity and also include the guests in the planning of the next stop.
Onboard Carnival cruise lines’ Destiny, a new activity are the golf lessons which are offered to passengers who either need to brush up a bit on the game or simply never had a lesson in their lives. Cruise activities, such as games of ping pong, volleyball, and basketball are always well attended. For the younger set there are cruising children’s activities. Oftentimes these take place in a club setting where the child is able to interact with the kids of other passengers and will not only have free time, but also structured activities such as art lessons and also music appreciation.
